EXTRADITION TREATY LAW AND PROCEDURE
Extraditability of United States Nationals
Most extradition treaties negotiated prior to World War II did not allow for the extradition of U.S. citizens from the United States to foreign countries. In 1990, Congress enacted legislation, which expressly provided for the extradition of U.S. citizens to foreign countries, provided that all other requirements of the applicable extradition treaty were met.
